Title Detail
Advice

Advice is any counsel or suggestion which could influence a player in determining his play, the choice of club or method of making a stroke.  Information on the Rules or on matters of public information, such as the position of hazards or the flagstick on the putting green, is not advice.

Be aware: Players shall not engage in conversation with spectators.  Conversations with spectators may be construed as advice and the player may be subject to penalty.

Close of Competition

In stroke play, scorecards must be signed and attested in the official scoring area immediately following play. Scores are official when a player has handed his/her scorecard to The First Tee of Southern Nevada SNJGA tournament staff. When scores have been posted on the official scoreboard and approved by the TFTSN Rules Committee, the results of the competition shall be deemed to have been announced and the competition officially closed.

Deciding Ties

In the event of a tie for 1st place, there will be a playoff.  If a playoff is not feasible the USGA recommended method of matching scorecards would be implemented.

18-Hole Stroke Play:
The winner will be determined on the basis of the best score for the last 9 holes. If the tying players have the same score for the last 9 holes, the score will be determined for the last 6 holes, last 3 holes and finally the 18th hole.  The same procedure will be used for 2nd and 3rd place winners.

9-Hole & 6-Hole Stroke Play:
The winner will be determined on the basis of the best score for the last 6/3 holes.  If the tying players have the same score for the last 6/3 holes, the score will be determined for the last 3 holes, and finally the 9th / 6th hole.  The same procedure will be used to determin 2nd and 3rd place winners.

Discontinuance of Play The attention of all competitors in The First Tee of Southern Nevada SNJGA events is called to Rules 6-8 (Discontinuance of Play) and 33-2d (Course Unplayable). Players have the right to stop play if they think lightning threatens them, even though the Committee may not have specifically authorized it by a signal.

In order to protect players and spectators, the TFTSN requires all players to stop play immediately upon notification of a suspension due to a dangerous situation such as lightning. Accordingly, the following Local Rule will be in effect at all TFTSN tournaments:

"When play is suspended by the Committee for a dangerous situation, if the players in a match or group are between the play of two holes, they shall not resume play until the Committee has ordered a resumption of play. If they are in the process of playing a hole, they shall discontinue play immediately and not resume play until the Committee has ordered a resumption of play. If a player fails to discontinue play immediately, he is DISQUALIFIED unless circumstances warrant waiving the penalty as provided in Rule 33-7"

Doubt as to Procedure (3-3) As found on page 20 of the 2006-07 USGA Rules of Golf.

In Stroke play, if a competitor is doubtful of his rights or the correct procedure during the play of a hole, the player may, without penalty, complete the hole with two balls. After the doubtful situation has arisen and before taking further action, the competitor must announce to his marker or a fellow-competitor that he intends to play two balls and which ball he wishes to count if the Rules permit.  If he fails to do so, the provisions of Rule 3-3(ii) apply.  The competitor must report the facts of the situation to the Committee before returning his scorecard.  If he fails to do so, his is DISQUALIFIED!
